Memorial Day - Part 1

We decided to spend the day off driving down to North Carolina's Outer Banks. It's a hot spot, and I'd never been so we decided to give it a try. Plus it's only 1.5 hours away!

We were a bit worried that there'd be a lot of traffic, but we went down early Monday morning, and left Monday at about 7pm and didn't get any traffic at all. Maybe we missed them...

First we went to visit the
Wright Brothers Memorial
Home of First Flight!

It was a cool place to visit. They had reproductions of everything and a little presentation to tell you all about it.
Here's markers for the first four flights. There was always people in the way, but the starting point is just on the edge of the picture.

So you can be smart like me, the first flight lasted only 12 seconds & they flew only 120 feet, then the fourth went 852 feet.
What made it really cool was the the Wright Brothers kept very detailed records of
everything so they could replicate a lot of things.
Exact replica of the first airplane, complete with a little man where Orville was. Super fun.
