Memorial Day- Part 2

Next, we decided to drive a bit down the coast to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. We parked at a picnic area beneath it and tried to grill some chicken and corn that we brought with us.

After a bit of trying to get the fire going we realized the charcoal we bought DIDN'T have built-in lighter fluid so I made a drive to the closest gas station to pick some up. Yay for gas stations, even if they're overpriced!

Got to show off our killer lunch.

Jello makes everything good

The lighthouse! I never understood why some people really love lighthouses until I saw this one. It's so beautiful and seems so magnificent.

And this is the beach we hung out at. Ahh bliss.

What a fun day! Not getting caught in traffic? Double bonus!

I do love the Outer Banks. A neat trip (that is long) is going to Ocracoke Island. Have to take a ferry and it's a very long drive. Bonus is the beaches down there are empty (altho the beach you were at was very good for Memorial day!) and the water is a tad warmer. :)
