September 13, 2006

Greetings!

Haha, it seems like a Christmas letter. But it's not. It's not even Halloween yet, but Cracker Barrel has been set with Christmas Décor since August. Hmm, anyway.

It's been another great week. First of all, we had four investigators at church, three for their first time, and they all loved it. They were Sue, Johnathan, Stuart, and Vicki. Sue, Johnathan & Stuart I've talked about before.
Sue is still set for her baptism on Saturday.

Johnathan loved church and everything about the people in it. He thinks all members of the church are smart and we have a lot of engineers and scientists in the ward so I guess that puts up a good rep too. I think he's hooked now. We taught his wife Kathy more personally too and now she's reading the Book Of Mormon too.

Stuart told us he knows Joseph Smith is a prophet and wants to be baptized, but is moving to GA tomorrow to live with his daughter. We've already passed on his information so he should be getting with the missionaries down there. That would be a nice present. Somebody all ready.

Vicki we met on the street the same day as Stuart. We haven't been able to get ahold of her really since church since she lives a couple places, but she seemed to enjoy church.

It was so cool to have a lot of people at church. A few of them had members to take care of them and show them around which really helped us. The only problem is nobody has cars in Ravenna and there's almost no members that live around us, so we have a fun time getting everyone rides. Words of advice, let the missionaries know you're willing to help out, even if it's out of your way.

Jim though didn't make it to church. His daughter has a paper route in the AMs and he watches her daughter while she's gone. For the past 2 weeks she's been late and he hasn't been able to come. We're gonna have to work on that… We did take him to Kirtland Sunday afternoon though and he enjoyed it. I think he's now well briefed in the life of Joseph Smith. I surprised Sis. Clove since she'd there and she didn't know I was coming. I'm sure everyone around got quite a kick out of that reuniting.

I also learned two new things that I've been wondering for a long time. On the freeway there's signs that say HC crossed out, and NOBODY knew what they meant. On the way from Kirtland I asked Bro. Hambleton who came with us and he knew! FYI it means no Hazardous Cargo. Apparently he was a semi driver so he knows. Also kinda funny, a lot of the houses our here have these little huts at the end of their driveways. Like little one person booths. I've been trying to figure out what those were for awhile, and everytime I'd knock on someone's door that had one they wouldn't be home for me to ask. I thought maybe they'd sell stuff in the sometimes… But Bro. Hambleton knew that one too, and they're booths for the kids to wait in for the bus to come. Spoiled little kids. :) So there's an idea.

Well, that's about all that's going on around here I think. Tomorrow we're having another Zone Conference! It seems like we have these a lot. This one is a little different-known in the OCM as Zoned Out where we get to play games and work on unity in our zone… That's all I really got out of it, but I guess they try to do it every year. And it's half-mission (four zones) instead of two zones and non-pros :) (meaning regular clothes…) It's also at the John Johnson Farm which will be really neat. I haven't been there yet and it's only about 30 minutes from here.

Well, thanks for listening. Hope you're all enjoying September and whatever that brings your way. Love you all,
Sister Ruthie Salisbury
