On Target

So I'm staying over at another house this week taking care of someone's cats and dogs. It's kinda fun since Jeremy's gone so I at least have some new surroundings to keep me company.

The downside is that the smell of their kitty litter casuses my allergies to act up and I've been blowing my nose regularly for the last 3 hours. And secondly, I failed to ask what their network key was so I can't use my own computer for internet. I feel like it's possible to look it up somehow on a computer that was already connected, but haven't remembered or figured out how yet. Luckily though, they have a laptop that's wirelessly connected, so I can still survive.

As a cause of that, I was exposed to a new homepage -- cnn.com --and was enticed by some of their articles and thereby reminded of some pleasurable memories. I was reading this article about how some American companies are still doing well despite the economy. Among others, they featured Target (which I love) and had to read on. It mentioned how the Target bullseye was one of the most recognizable logos. This is when my reflection occurred....

Many years ago, I really wanted a pair of these:

Remember these?
I've always been one for a good deal, so I wanted to find a generic version (who needs quality when you're a kid buying it yourself) and had looked everywhere. Whoever I was with pulled into a store I didn't really recognize, but I went in and found my sandals! They were black with purple and green zig-zags on the straps. I remember holding them in the bag on the way home and loving them. Someone asked me later where I had gotten them and I didn't know the name, but I remembered how they had a big bullseye on the sign.

I remember later seeing the store again somewhere else and I got really excited and knew that I liked that store. Crazy eh? I totally remember feeling like that, and not knowing where I was but remembering the logo. True testimony of branding.
