Eesh. November's almost gone too. We've had 4 incredibly nice days. They say it's going to snow tomorrow and be bad from them on. Ohio really is bi-polar in regards to weather.
I spent some time writing other emails so this may not be as long today. Don't be too relieved :)
This Sunday was pretty neat. At church we had Jon & Kathy and...Garnetta! Don't know how much I mentioned about her, but she's the aunt of a recent convert, alcoholic and afraid of churches. We've taken her on a walk through before but she's honestly petrified. It's hard to really know what to do to help her but her dad died this last week and something struck her. She knows she needs to change but lacks the motivation. We're always at a loss when trying to help her. After a drunken phone call the night before something hit her and she came to church. I was baffled. She only stayed for sacrament meeting but she says she'll try and come next week.
Jon & Kathy set a new baptismal date for January 6th. Jon should be done with all his traveling and ready to settle down and make himself a part of the group. We discussed the layer of authority within the church, and who receives revelation for who. I mentioned that I know God wouldn't choose me to give a revelation to for something that was for the whole church. Now he thinks I have low self-confidence or something and always tells me to think more highly of myself. Ah. We readdressed Kathy's coffee concern and Jon was really impressed with the knowledge that Sister Holman had that coffee has tanic acid in it. I guess he doesn't realize how often we have to teach people not to drink coffee. He now thinks she should be a science major. It was funny because they both are really picky about what they feed their wolves and Kathy cooks for them everyday. Real food. About tanic acid she said, "I don't even feed my dogs stuff with tanic acid in it...I guess I should give myself that either. " Novel idea eh? They're a great couple. They keep you on your toes for sure but I love them.
One random thing that keeps us laughing. The first night Sis. Holman moved in there was squeaking & scratching noises in our walls. I kinda assumed it was the new light fixture squeaking...like light bulbs... She though was convinced they were mice and she really doesn't like mice. They weren't inside the house but I guess they could be inside the walls. Anyway, the next day we called maintanence to see if they'd had problems. THe manager said they wouldn't be mice but might be Bats! We still don't know if we're conviced but everyonce inawhile we hear our mice/bats moving in the walls. I did find a little crack along the ceiling that looks like a perfect place for bats to climb into our walls. We really don't know what to do about them. They say missionaries aren't allowed to have pets though...this might be a problem.
Our other investigators are pretty much the same. We have a few new ones we're meeting with tonight so hopefully more will come from that.
Oh, and the Elders in Stow are asking for any referrals in that area. They need new investigators so if anyone knows anyone feel free to let me know and I'll pass it on.
That's it for now. Thanks for being great!
Love,
Sister Salisbury
