opinions needed

How important is the meaning of a name when choosing one?
Should it affect whether or your final decision is what to choose? and if so, how much?

I never really cared too much about what my name meant, but it means "companion" and I don't really mind being one of those.

Say for example a name you like ends up meaning "one who lives in a swamp."

Should that be enough to dissuade you from using it?

Just wondering...

what? if anything, that should be a reason to use that name.

no, i don't think it should be a big factor. my name means "white fair, white wave." what?

Check out or buy this book: The Baby Name Wizard. It will open your eyes to name styles, not just a list of names.

Savannah is "treeless plane" and her middle name means "waterfall". I wanted meaning at first, but she must just be a nature girl. :)
The names we had picked before we got pregnant just didn't feel right when we thought or prayed about them. Try not to over think it (but of course you will cause how can anybody not) and pray. You'll come up with exactly what it should be. Good Luck!
