blogger frustrations

I'm consistently frustrated with my post formats. It seems like there's so little space for the actual text to go and then if I want something to go to the line it puts in these huge spaces that I can't get rid of. I try to edit the HTML to fix it and it uses the <div>
tag which I don't like. Sometimes if I change it to just a line break it helps, but sometimes it doesn't anything even in "Edit HTML"
I've tried to use different templates to see if that would enable easier posting, but couldn't find one that gave you a wider blog-text area. Does anyone else have these problems? Suggestions?
If this doesn't make any sense - just forgive me for the huge spaces between pictures & text and know that it bothers me. And hopefully I'll figure it out sometime.... Thanks :)

I totally understand. My problem is that blogger will never let me do paragraphs. It drives me crazy! So, my posts are formatted into one giant paragraph, and it's very ugly looking and harder to read. Grrr. Sorry, I don't have any answers for your worries, but at least we can frustrated together.

You're right. The window Blogger gives you to edit your posts is frustratingly small. They provide you with the ability to drag & drop photos inside the edit window, but it almost becomes useless since the window is so small. The size of the edit window is my biggest gripe with Blogger.

Just a tip - I've found that spacing things the way I like is much easier if I add the photos to the post first, then add the text afterwards.

Ruthy, it's your old roommate Mindy to the rescue.
On your dashboard page, choose "Settings". Settings has options like basic, publishing, formatting, etc, choose "Formatting". Scroll down to "Convert line breaks" and choose yes.

If you have problems with moving your pictures around, you can always click on the picture and hit control x to cut, and then control v to paste it in another place in your post.
Hope that wasn't too confusing.
Good luck!

Whahoo! So I'm testing out all the things you've suggested. I was really excited to change the "convert line breaks" but it's already set at yes. I did see "enable float alignment" that says select NO is you are having post layout problems, so I changed that.

After my first test post, I still had to go in and change the default "div" tags to "br /" and also I found if I choose large size pictures the format is a little less tricky.

Anyway, great suggestions guys and it's good to know I'm not the only one with frustrations.

Ruthie, I don't know if my settings are different, but I use the template Minima Stretch (or Minima Lefty Stretch) and it gives me a pretty good amount of space for my text.

I found that Mindy's suggestion of moving pictures around is very helpful as well.
